We are a new multispecialty referral center with 24 hour care and emergency receiving, the first of its kind in the south sound area. Seattle Veterinary Specialists (SVS) is a state-of-the-art multi-specialty and 24-hour emergency/critical care facility in Kirkland, WA. We are currently seeking a full-time Licensed Veterinary Technician to be a shift lead in our Internal Medicine Department.

Main Responsibilities:

Provide excellent patient and client care.
Triage/admit internal medicine patients and strive to meet the client’s expectations
Perform physical exams according to SVS procedures and protocols.
Take and process radiographs.
Draw and periodically process laboratory samples.
Prepare patients and assist with procedures including placing IV catheters, administering sedation, and inducing and monitoring anesthesia.
Fill take-home prescriptions as directed by the veterinarian and in accordance with state regulations.
Client education
Provide leadership/supervision/training to coworkers during the shift.
Coordinate patient care to increase efficiency while upholding excellent nursing care standards.

Be a liaison between upper management and the internal medicine department
Build relationships with clients and the referring veterinary community.

Required Experience and Skills:

Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
Ability to uphold proper safety protocols.
Familiar and proficient with aseptic techniques
Familiar and proficient with basic laboratory procedures and practices.
Familiar and proficient with basic veterinary equipment, instruments and medications.
3 year experience as an LVT, preferably in a specialty hospital or larger practice.
Demonstrated supervisory/leadership experience.

Education

Required – 2-year degree by an accredited veterinary technician program, and have passed the VTNE, or have satisfied the prerequisites to challenge the VTNE (i.e. be qualified under the “Grandfather Clause”) and have passed the test. Small animal internal medicine focus is preferred.
